To provide some basic information about the Los Amigos Peruvian Paso Club, here are:

The Objectives of the Los Amigos Peruvian Paso Club, as set out in the Club's By-Laws:

  • to enhance public awareness of the Peruvian Paso Horse, including the history, attributes, performance and utility of the breed;

  • to sponsor activities, including (but not limited to) horse shows, trail rides and training clinics, within the Southern California area;

  • to foster and promote youth participation in all aspects of the Peruvian Paso Horse;

  • to provide information and assistance to members regarding the training, showing, breeding and usefulness of the Peruvian Paso Horse;

  • to support and assist the U.S. National Peruvian Paso Horse organization, the North American Peruvian Horse Association (NAPHA);

  • to promote harmony and mutual support among Peruvian Paso Horse owners and aficionados.

The Benefits and Activities of the Los Amigos Peruvian Paso Club:

  • Newsletter - is generally published 3 or 4 times each year, depending on the amount of news and the happenings.  It is mailed first class to the membership.  Usually, once per year, one issue is mailed to all past members and exhibitors.  This is usually the issue before the annual show.

  • Championship Show - coordinate and support one show per year.  It is run by the rules of the parent organization, NAPHA, and it receives points toward their year end awards.  It also receives points from it's sister club, SCPPHC (Southern California Peruvian Paso Horse Club), towards their own year end awards. This show was held in Santa Barbara in July 2005.  The date for next year is also in July.

  • The Fiesta of the Spanish Horse - is supported with publicity, volunteers and in an advisory capacity for the Peruvian Paso Division of the horse show held in conjunction with the Fiesta.  This event is generally the first weekend in May.

  • Expositions - coordinate, support or join in supporting a booth at the different equine expositions held in Southern California.  For 2006, the plan is to be part of the booth sponsored by The Fiesta of the Spanish Horse at the February Equine Affaire to be held in Pomona.  This booth is an informational booth where the club provides information on the horse, breeders in the area, horses for sale, and some general literature.  It also involves presentations of horses and tack.  Volunteers provide the literature and try to answer the zillions of questions coming from the public.

  • General Membership Meeting - one meeting is held each year.  It is held in December, usually at the ranch of one of the members.  The purpose of the meeting is to provide the yearly meeting, as well as the elections for the Board of Directors for the following year.

  • Website - offers a network of contacts, information on our activities, and hopefully, a place to start asking questions.
